In 2011 the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll saw what was for many, a surprising swift change of popularity votes seeing David Guetta push much loved Dutch DJ/Producer Armin Van Buuren out of his number one slot for the first time after four years in a row. Tiesto sat pretty at the number three slot, gimmick-y Deadmau5 stayed at number four with Above & Beyond also still remaining in the number five spot. As voted for by EDM fans from across the world, the online poll is anonymous and stems as a result of individual votes, nominating their own top five favourite DJs for the DJ MAG Top 100 Poll.

This year, the 2012 poll results sees Armin Van Buuren back in his number one slot, the ‘DJ Mag Poll throne’ after allowing David Guetta one year of bragging rights. Tiesto has moved up to number two, with Avicii taking the number three slot. David Guetta finds himself at bopped down to number four, while Deadmau5 moves one slot down to sit at number five.

Whether or not you are intrigued by these results or the story behind the millions of votes casted by millions of mainstream dance music fans the world over, the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll remains a hot topic every year after the results are announced. Of course the DJs who make it into the poll never fail to use it as a flag point when selling themselves, making it an influential DJ success yard stick since 2007.
