DJ Mag poll results dragged on Twitter by Deadmau5 and Kaskade
The DJ Mag poll results have been revealed so Deadmau5 and Kaskade made a few catty tweets in a bid to separate themselves from the poll.
Deadmau5 tweeted:
“.@djmag when will you finally exclude me from this? So moronic.”
That’s when Kaskade joined in with the following:
“Being left off that thing might have been my proudest moment this year @deadmau5”
Why artists want to be on the poll
3LAU on the other hand took it upon himself to share what he considers to be a different point of view on the DJ Mag poll.
According to 3LAU, if you want to get booked in Asia, then the DJ Mag poll is something nifty to have on your CV…
“When a DJ gets booked in most Asian countries to play a club, their fee is heavily dependent on their DJ mag ranking. In other markets, like the US or Canada for instance, a performance fee has more to do with social media numbers, Spotify play counts, chart positions, and most importantly previous ticket sales history.
DJ Mag asks for tens of thousands of dollars every year so that DJs can maintain high chart position, because they know that could mean tens of thousands of dollars in higher DJ fees in Asian markets, for those artists who choose to spend the money. Most DJs, producers, and managers are too scared to fucking admit this shit to the internet. Because if they did it might affect their future income.”
It seems as though the DJ Mag poll may be lagging in its cool factor, particularly due to its seeming lack of authenticity and alleged bribes. It is quite rough if the very artists that were frothing to be on the list; then choose to turn their noses up at it once they are over it.
Every year, the DJ Mag poll is hotly debated, written, and posted about. And each year, varying opinions are flying.
This year the artist at the number one spot is Martin Garrix.
