Local deep house DJ Daddy Mdoo passed away
The passing of deep house veteran DJ Mduduzi Ngcobo aka DJ Daddy Mdoo has the scene in mourning. Reportedly, DJ Daddy Mdoo had been suffering with kidney failure. It was this that has caused him to lose his life early yesterday morning.
Another well-known DJ, Mbuso Tulwana shared the news on Facebook with the following post:
“Big Daddy left us this morning at 05:45am.”
The Soweto Deep House Festival also shared a heartfelt message to their Facebook page:
“It is with a heavy heart and piercing pain, that we learn of the passing of Mduduzi Edgar Ngcobo, more affectionately known as DJ BigDaddy Mdoo. We wish to extend our deepest condolences, prayers and thoughts to his family and friends. We also extend our thanks to The Almighty and his ancestral lineage for sharing the light and gift that he was with the world. Mdoo was a beacon of all that can be right with the world when you put love first. Love for God. Love for his family. Love for his friends. & Love for his gift.
You will be sorely missed across all spectrums and lives that you passed through. May you rest in eternal peace, serenity & purity.

DJ Mbuso Tulwana also gave this statement to TshisaLIVE, confirming the passing of his friend, DJ Daddy Mdoo…
“Yes it is true DJ Mdoo passed away this morning. I don’t have any further details but I’m travelling to visit the family in Soweto,” he said.
Another Facebook page titled The Journey with DJ Mdoo was started with the intention to garner support from the deep house community for the ailing DJ while he was undergoing treatment.
The page made everyone aware of the struggles that DJ Daddy Mdoo was facing.
“In this case our living legend and gentle giant DJ Mdoo’s world has been turned upside down due to kidney failure. He is faced with a lot of medical challenges and we as his friends and colleagues have taken the initiative to assist him and we also appeal to you from the goodness of your heart to join us in celebrating his life and also donating so he can get better medical help,” read a post on The Journey with DJ Daddy Mdoo page.
