Local Daveyton DJ Da Kruk wins Black Coffee competition to perform in Ibiza
DJ Da Kruk wins Black Coffee competition which will see him perform in Ibiza
DJ Black Coffee has made Ibiza his home away from home throughout his residency at Hi Ibiza, including inviting DJ’s from SA soil to perform at Hi Ibiza.
This time around, he is gearing up to show an up-and-coming DJ the ‘Ibizan’ ropes when they perform for thousands of partygoers.
A gig in Ibiza pretty much gives you a big golden key to the world.
The prestigious honour goes to Kutloano “Da Kruk” Nhlapo, who has won the DJ search comp hosted by DJ Black Coffee and AXE deodorant, after a gruelling 4-month nationwide search.
DJ Da Kruk luck
DJ Da Kruk is 29 years old and hails from Daveyton.
He opened up to TshisaLIVE about how grateful he is for the opportunities opened up for him and other local musicians by Black Coffee.
“Black Coffee is a pioneer and an inspiration to us all. He has opened the door to the world for us and I am going to make the most of it. South Africa is the leading export of house music to the world at the moment, in my opinion, and a lot of that is because of him (Black Coffee),” he said.
Despite his admiration for Black Coffee, he is determined to follow the beat of his own drum and not be “another Black Coffee.”
“I am not another Black Coffee. I am me and I bring something unique to my sets. I believe it is this uniqueness and my hard work that got me this far,” he said.
His set in Ibiza will include a number of South African hits as well as some of his own recorded tracks.
He will also play a gig in Amsterdam next month, which he secured prior to winning the comp.
Another Saffa takes on the international scene as DJ Da Kruk wins Black Coffee competition. Nice!
