DJ Bongz to take Gwara internationally
DJ Bongz takes the Gwara dance to new levels.
Bongz has recently revealed that he will be taking the Gwara moves on a US dance class tour in the US later this month.
Founded by Bongz, Gwara is a series of dance moves that has swept South Africa and has now reached international demands after Rihanna performed it at the Grammy Awards.
This style of dancing is something that Americans have not experienced, and after Rihanna’s performance it went viral with many Americans eager to learn it.
Gwara Gwara fever
Bongz has agreed to teach them at a special class to be held in the US on the 26th of February.
Naturally he will charge for the class, but hasn’t revealed how much.
“I am going to tour America a few times between now and June and I was asked to come hold a workshop and teach people the gwara gwara. After the Rihanna performance I got a lot of calls and I am excited by the opportunity,” he told TshisaLIVE.
Bongz will be taking the moves closer to home later this year when he embarks on an African tour.
“We are trying to secure more sponsors but so far we are planning to head to Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia and Nigeria. We will be representing South Africa. We want to show the world that we are the dance capital of Africa.”
Bongz is honoured that an international star like RiRi took his dance to the Grammy’s stage.
“I created the dance from scratch and it feels so special to have it shown on an international stage like the Grammys. It shows that Africa can make a big impact on international dance.”

Congratulations to DJ Bongz for showing the world SA’s moves.
