DJ Bongz departs from Mabala Noise to start a new venture
DJ Bongz is leaving Mabala Noise to find greener pastures.
Bongz has announced his departure from the label he co-founded and is an artist on, Mabala Noise.
He didn’t give much detail as to why he’s leaving though he did mention that he will introduce his new venture, a company called Gwara Gwara Entertainment.
Though the tweet is no longer online, he said: “I, DJ BONGZ, would like to confirm that I AM NO LONGER PART OF MABALA NOISE. I wish everyone success there. Peace.”
Earlier in the year following the Metro FM Awards label artist Riky Rick also left Mabala.
Fans of Bongz took to Twitter in upset proclaiming their shock of the situation asking questions such as, “How do you leave your own company though?”
The official statement from his new management team, Gwara Gwara entertainment says there is no bad blood between Bongz and Mabala.
Lindo Buthelezi, said to TshisaLIVE DJ Bongz has established Gwara Gwara entertainment and resigned from Mabala Noise to pursue his dreams the way he wanted to. There is no bad blood between him and Mabala or governor (Reggie Nkabinde), in fact he left for the sake of their friendship.”
Mabala drama
Mabala Noise has been in the spotlight for controversies linked to claims that they bought ‘wins’ at the Metro FM Awards held earlier this year.
They also held the Durban July launch party at the end of June which was also met with some grievance.
Zakes Bantwini stated that the Mabala Noise team had “lack of professionalism, communication and disrespect was shown by the Mabala Noise team.”
On the other hand rap start Kwesta apologized to fans following his 15-minute set duration at the same event. “I would like to apologise to everyone that came to Greyville Racecourse to see me at the Mabala Noise event. Business wasn’t handled right,” Kwesta said.
Originally named Embalabala, Mabala Noise was started in 2008 by co-owners DJ Bongz and ANC Youth League treasurer Reggie Nkabinde.
The label hosts great artists such as Nasty C, Gigi Lamayne and L’vovo Derrango.
I guess the story of why exactly DJ Bongs left is yet to be unearthed.
