DJ Awards 2016 Winners Announced
The DJ Awards 2016 winners were announced at the ceremony last night.
SA’s very own Black Coffee won the award for Best Deep house DJ and Matador, who will be performing at Rocking the Daisies this weekend won for best Electronic Live performer.
The Ibizan award show carries a bit more weight in underground circles than the beleaguered DJ Mag awards as it is based purely on the summer party season on the Island.
Bottom line; if you’ve won an award at the DJ Awards 2016, you’re pretty much set to return to the island for a residency the following season and will no doubt have a year filled with bookings around the globe beyond that.
The event is hosted each year at Pacha Ibiza and this year was presented by Des Paul and Lucy Horobin.
A total of 21 awards were awarded at DJ Awards 2016 and there were 12 categories voted in. Carl Cox won two awards on the night and was the most popular choice for the evening.
