David Morales answers his haters about TOPDJ
David Morales is a pretty well known and successful DJ/producer. He is a Grammy winning American house DJ and producer and he is 53 years old this year.
He grew up in an era when disco blossomed and would have experienced first hand the evolution into house music. As far back as 1993 David Morales produced an 11-track album called The Program and his list of pop songs he has remixed are endless.
It’s safe to say that Morales was one of the early superstar DJs and he was not afraid to put his name to many mainstream and popular songs. He has done everything from Aretha Franklin to Backstreet Boys to Pet Shop Boys, Eric Clapton and even the late Michael Jackson.
So it’s safe to say that as a producer David Morales could not be called underground. As a DJ, he is a consummate professional and has played some of the biggest gigs on the planet no doubt.
Hence it’s kind of strange that Morales is being hated on for appearing on a DJ talent TV show. No doubt most of the haters are DJs who have had their rose-tinted illusion of the man ruined – shock horror – the show even played EDM!!!
By his own admission, Morales says he doesn’t specifically like the music being played on the show but insists he is there to help guide the entrants into becoming better DJs.
It’s also nice to get a bit of a payout when you’ve been around for as long as he has so why not use the platform to share knowledge with the next generation?
Who can blame him? Apparently many can since he felt implored to post this lengthy Facebook status update explaining why he is on TOPDJ.
As the saying goes, ‘haters gonna hate’ and these days it seems that DJs are doing a lot of hating.
David Morales you rock! Keep doing what you doing, legend!!!
PS: We’d include some of the haters comments but since TOPDJ is an Italian show it may just be that the hating was all in Italian… or maybe Morales imagined it? 🙂
