Damian Marley to perform in SA at Zakifo Music Festival
Damian Marley will be headlining the Zakifo Music Festival in Durban at the Blue Lagoon Beach taking place on the 26-28 May 2017.
Reggae royalty, Damian Marley share the stage with African artists Bombino, Birdy Nam Nam, Ray Phiri, Petite Noir, and Thandiswa Mazwai.
The Zakifo Music Festival managed to snag this top performer for their bill and will no doubt make for an excellent event.
The Zakifo Music Festival forms part of a regional group of music festivals that take place during May and June each year. The group is known as IGODA and includes other festivals such as Bushfire and Africa Day.
The Blurb…
“Damian Marley is going to be gracing our shores to present his unique and powerful sound alongside his full band. If you haven’t heard his music then perhaps you have been living under a rock. Thandiswa Mazwai the SA legend and vocalist/songwriter from the much loved and lauded Bongo Maffin. Thandiswa is one of the pioneers of the Kwaito sound and will speak straight to your soul at #zakifo2017,” according to the Zakifo Music Festival Facebook page.
The Zakifo Music Festival is bringing together an array of artists ranging from pop musicians to iconic reggae artists and the pure delights of indigenous music from all over Africa and the India Ocean Islands.
Damian Marley needs little introduction as the baby of the Marley clan and an iconic reggae star in his own right. He carries a torch for the family that is unmistakably reminiscent of his father’s legacy.
He in many ways feeds the longing that newer generations feel for the particular brand of Marley reggae, groove, and poetry.
Damian Marley has been performing since the early nineties and has released four studio albums, fourteen singles and he has done five collaborative releases.
