Creators of Game of Thrones are writing a new Star Wars film series
A new Star Wars film series is brewing.
It’s undeniable that HBO’s Game of Thrones is one of the most popularly riveting shows to come to our screens.
The rich storytelling, depth of characters and nail-biting moments make it impossible to turn away from, and it’s all GOT to do with the incredible application from novel to series by the creators behind the show- David Benioff and D.B Weiss.
Disney and Lucasfilm announced that these two masterminds will be rocketing to a new universe as they are set to write a new Star Wars film series.
Got Star Wars?
The duo will write and produce the new film series that’s separate from the J.J Abrams’ Skywalker continuation trilogy and the previously announced Rian Johnson-lead trilogy.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy expressed her enthusiasm:
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today. Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
In a joint statement, Benioff and Weiss said:
“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
At this stage their plans for the Star Wars series are shrouded in mystery, although Disney CEO Bob Iger divulged that “they are focused on a point in time in the Star Wars mythology and taking it from there.”
The duo are currently finishing the final season of Game of Thrones and are meant to write and produce a new HBO show called Confederate, although the latter project is now in question.
If GoT is anything to go by, the new Star Wars film series is going to be full of action.
