Couple orders dresses online, gets 25,000 ecstasy pills instead
Couple orders dresses online but gets ecstasy instead with a street value of £450, 000.
A middle-aged couple from Austria did something that’s become the norm in this day and age only this time it yielded ridiculous results.
The unnamed couple, who live in the Austrian city of Linz, ordered two dresses online from a clothing store in the Netherlands.
They were casually having breakfast one morning when two parcels arrived. One parcel contained the dresses they ordered while the other parcel contained three plastic bags of pink pills.
Initially the woman, 58, thought the pills were decorative stones, but upon close inspection by her husband, 59, became suspicious and opted to return the parcel to the post office rather than alerting authorities who might implement them in the offense.
Pass the parcel
Upon arrival at the post office, the package was reported to the narcotics division of the of the city police, who discovered the intended destination to have been Glasgow, some 940 miles from Linz.
The force said in a statement: “The originally planned cosy breakfast was quickly over and to the horror of the couple, it turned out that, though one of the packages did contain the two dresses, the second however had 24,800 Ecstasy tablets worth about €500,000 (£442,800).
“In the following investigation it turned out that it was a mail misconduct.
“The package should have been actually sent from the Netherlands to Scotland.”
Police in both countries (Netherlands and Scotland) are trying to make arrests, and this is an ongoing investigation.
