Ballantine’s True Music presents Communities Behind the Dancefloor.
A nightclub isn’t just a party venue; it’s a place for freedom and celebration.
This new documentary from Ballantine’s takes an in-depth look at four pioneering clubs from around the world and what makes them a haven for ravers.
The four clubs featured are:
- The world’s longest-running underground dance club, Sub Club in Glasgow
- The Middle East’s one-of-a-kind pyramid club, The Gärten on Beirut’s riverfront
- Downtown Barcelona’s legendary techno and house nightclub, Nitsa x Apolo
- The now-closed beacon for house and techno club, which welcomes fans within its vast concrete walls in Brooklyn, New York, Output
Communities Behind the Dancefloor
Running just under 30 minutes, Communities Behind the Dancefloor features exclusive interviews from the movers and shakers behind these pioneering clubs, who tell tales of adversity, triumph, inclusion, resilience and community of dance.
Ballantine’s explores what makes these clubs so unique while shining a light on the devout communities behind them. Shot on location in each city, the documentary features the owners, crews, promoters and the DJs that make each venue much more than a dancefloor.
It’s illuminating to see the passion, love, dedication and hard work that go into creating a unique clubbing experience- it doesn’t appear out of thin air.
