Cassper Nyovest accuses radio playlist curators of ‘sleeping’ on his second album
Cassper Nyovest is upset with local radio stations for allegedly not playing his latest album enough. Allegedly, he insists that they have ignored his second album.
He is currently working on his third album which he claims will be his best piece of work yet. For some reason, Cassper Nyovest is not entirely satisfied with the amount of times he hears his music playing on the radio.
Cassper Nyovest is one of South Africa’s top selling hip hop artists and he wants radio playlist compilers to show his music more respect.
This twitter kick up happened after a fan suggested that radio playlist compilers “largely ignore” his second album.
Reportedly, Cassper had ranted back in 2016 that he wanted radio stations to start treating him like Beyoncé. He even went so far as to drop his single ‘Abashwe’ off at radio stations and then he pleaded with his fans to request the song.
He recruited his fans to let him know via twitter when any of his songs were played on the radio.
Radio stations have not responded to Cassper’s allegations. But Kaizer Kganyago, an SABC spokesperson told TshisaLIVE that playlists were put together for the station’s particular audience.
“It does not matter who you are or whether you are well-known, your music has to be submitted to a station for consideration. A committee will then look at a number of factors, including whether the song is any good and whether it fits in the target market of the station. If your music fits the criteria, it will be playlisted. But if it is not, you must go back and ask them why it was not playlisted and they will tell you,” said Kganyago on Cassper Nyovest’s allegations.
