Cannabis wine getting you drunk and high
Cannabis wine is being commercially produced by wine makers in California. The US economy is unmatched for its consumerist culture therefore it’s not surprising that an American wine company has caught onto the cannabis trend.
Cannabis wine is simply wine that has been laced with cannabis. This is also known as Canna wine. If you are in California you can only get some of this special elixir if you have a prescription. It is also set at quite a high retail price, between $120-400 for half a bottle.
Historically, cannabis wine has been consumed for medicinal uses as far back as the 28th century B.C. A Chinese physician made use of wine fortified with cannabis to reduce pain during surgery.
This psychoactive wine has also been used in religious ceremonies. Initiations for the cult of Demeter and Persephone in ancient Greece and also early Christians made use of cannabis wine.
A wine cellar that dates back to the 1700 B.C. in Israel, had more than three thousand bottles of wine in it when it was discovered. And these bottles were all infused with a little something such as cinnamon, honey, mint, and psychotropic resins.
Not as new as we think
Cannabis wine is clearly nothing original. However, the medicinal uses of cannabis wine is something new and exciting for the modern cannabis consuming world.
“Cannabis is highly medicinal. And even when people think they are just using cannabis recreationally or to relax, it probably has an underlying medical or psychological component. Personally, I abhor grain alcohol. Many years ago, I tried cannabis-infused wine that a winemaking friend of mine made for his own personal consumption and I loved it. I got the recipe from him and I started working on my own batch seven years ago. As it turns out, I misunderstood his directions, but even he agrees that my results are better.” said Founder-farmer Lisa Molyneux, Greenway established in 2005 in Santa Cruz
