Cacao the new party drug in Berlin
Cacao is the new party drug in Berlin, offering party goers in the city a more natural and newer way to get a party high and a brain rush of energy.
The beans are either snorted, ingested, or drunk. According to reports, the use of cacao powder has been replacing the use of ecstasy, other drugs, and booze in parts of Western Europe.
A special party known as ‘Lucid’ takes place once a month and the organisers slip Balinese cacao into everyone’s drinks.
Another company known as Morning Gloryville arranges events in New York and London, with a bar full of cacao drinks and pills. If this is the future it can only be said that the prospects of legally consuming a ‘drug’ that will give you a purer high could be exciting.
Dominique Persoone, a Belgian chocolateir has created a snorting device so that those who are nostalgic for busting lines of cocaine can get cacao into their systems their favourite way.
Of course there was a study…
According to a recent study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition – raw, virgin cacao is said to have a high enough potency that party goers are choosing it over other chemical drugs. When you consume it you experience a surge of endorphins, this of course fills you with feelings of euphoria.
You also get magnesium in the same dose and this helps to relax your body and muscles. Pure, raw cacao is also filled with flavanols that increase blood circulation and stimulates brain power.
Tasty Recipes
Ruby May, who organises the ‘Lucid’ events says that she creates tasty recipes with the cacao so that it is more palatable for the general public.
She mixes roughly eight kilograms of cacao with agave syrup, cinnamon, and honey, she says…
“It’s like a smooth, sensual hug in a cup.”
Is it safe?
It will not mess with your state of mind but is said to only amplify any experience without dimming or numbing your senses. The effect of nature’s ‘drug’ is ‘subtle’ and not quite like taking LSD. Even though it has mood enhancing abilities, with the amounts generally taken it won’t directly affect your given mood.
Getting ‘high’ on the bean may not necessarily be a contender for the effects that chemical drugs have on users; but the idea of having a good time without harming yourself is most likely what is appealing for those who have opted to use it.
