Brown Dash tribute concert lineup & info
The Brown Dash tribute concert to honour the late great kwaito icon will take place on Heritage Day, 24th of September 2016 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. The event is scheduled to be annual concert that will celebrate the artistic integrity and memory of this one of a kind muso.
The concert is an initiative of the Mahlomola Kekana Foundation (MKF). It was launched on 9 May this year which is the same day that Brown Dash died four years ago.
Former close friends of his will be headlining the Brown Dash tribute concert such as Zola 7, Mandoza, Brickz, and Mapaputsi.
Also on the line up you can expect MS Jones, DJ Bongz, Latoya Makhene, Gigi Lamayne and other well known local performers.The Brown Dash tribute concert is hoping to draw in a forty thousand strong crowd.
The aim of the concert
“The fundamental aim of this tribute concert is to continue the legacy that Mpamile (Brown Dash) had started and to enable those he has left behind to enjoy his riches,” said head of the foundation, Mahlomola Kekana.
The fundraising is aimed at supporting the family that Brown Dash left behind after his passing.
“When Dash died, he was a father and a breadwinner. Life for the family has not been the same since his death. The proceeds of the concert will assist his three kids and family,” said Brickz.
Brown Dash’s real name was Simphiwe Mpamile. He is known and loved for having been one of the best kwaito artists in the country. The Brown Dash tribute concert will pay homage to the influence, hits, and impact that he had on South African music culture and the tenacity he inspired to rep who you are and where you’re from.
