Academy Award winner Brie Larson gives advice on how to DJ
Academy Award winner Brie Larson offers some DJ-ing advice in a video feature for GQ.
She is a Hollywood DJ, singer, and actress. Before you start rolling your eyes at her wide range of skills, talents and seemingly over achiever status, check out her wisdom on just how to get the people in the fantasy world of Hollywood excited enough to dance.
The events are cheesy, glittery parties for celebrities and climbers that have so much less to do with music than they are about having a good time and doing copious amounts of cocaine.
If you’d like an education on how to appeal to these groups and crack Hollywood some day, Brie Larson has got you covered…
“Always bring more records than you think that you need. Always bring the record that you think you definitely won’t play because it usually lands up being the record that you want to play first. Always have a couple of rap or r&b jams, like go to jams that get the party turned round
It always helps to have a little Nick Lowe or a couple of Elvis Costello in there as well, just like those instant ones that like make peoples ears perk up. Maybe don’t play a ton of sixties Beatle covers in German at a Coachella party because people don’t like that.”
Her comical personality also shines through…
“I did that and a guy with neon plastic ray bans that have the polarised thing on it and like spikey hair, looking super roided out with a shirt that said “Fucking Swag”, came up to me and said “Uh are you gonna play anything that’s good. And I was just like no, that’s my plan.”
In the image of Brie Larson above she is playing at the ‘Ug Presents with The Embassy: A 2012 Grammy Celebration in Association with Heineken and JetBlue Airways’. The party took place at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in California.
