The festival is a collaboration between several high profile music industry collectives and it will bring together some of the country’s most noteworthy artists and performers from a broad spectrum of cutting-edge and underground genres— including techno, dubstep and rock.
One of Johannesburg’s stalwart party venues, Carfax will host four stages: the Toy Toy floor; the Live Music Stage and both a Dubstep and Drum ‘n Bass floor. One of the ideas driving the festival was to bring quality South African artists into the city so that people could enjoy high calibre music acts without having to travel far out.
The Toy Toy floor is headlined by veterans Digital Rockit whose critically acclaimed performance at Rocking the Daisies was touted by local media as “the performance of the festival”. They’re giving their hometown fans the chance to see what all the fuss was about. Digital Rockit will share the stage with Felix Laband, and other Cape Town-based artists— Killer Robot, Anthea and BTEAM from reputable talent agency sSHADOWORKSs. Sound Sensible completes the line-up. The Toy Toy floor which will be powered by the seismic Red Bull Sound System—this custom-designed sound rig will make its Johannesburg debut at the festival.
Rock rules the Live Music Stage and fans can look forward to performances from “loungecore” Gents of Leisure; a blend of folk, blues and psychedelic rock from Earl Grey and Croquet; inspired acoustic musings via Naming James; the alter-ego of Jay Bones – frontman for ska-punkers Fuzigish, Rambling Bones and an edgy performance from up-and-coming duo Tricks & Traps.
Popular party crew The End is Nigh will be hosting the dubstep floor. You will find Kid Fonque, Twelv & Thesis, Audiophile 021, Melodik and Cape Town’s Sibot pulling out their bass ridden rhythms.
The Drum ‘n Bass stage will see LVS, Reepa, Rudeone and Sexual Dinosaur unleashing their sonic fury until the early hours of the morning.
