Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Africa to culminate in JHB
Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Africa tour is heading to Jozi.
Following phenomenal shows in Cape Town, Douala and Nairobi, the True Music Africa tour is heading to Johannesburg on the 20th and 21st of June for the forum and final show, which will be broadcast live to the world.
First of its kind, the True Music Africa tour has presented a platform for talented individuals on the continent to shine, broadcasting their performances to an audience of more than 10 million people around the world as well as sharing artists’ insights and experiences of the local music scene via a documentary series:
Cape Town: A Right to Shine
Douala: Ready for the World
Nairobi: The New Narrative
And now it’s time for the finale, which will be held in the city of gold, Johannesburg.
True Music Africa: Johannesburg
On Wednesday, 20 June the first True Music Africa Forum will be held, where the continent’s music community can come together to learn, exchange and build new ideas through panel discussions, a keynote conversation and performances.
The panel discussions will take place across two panels:
The Tech and Culture panel will feature Kenyan True Music artist, Muthoni Drummer Queen, Phenda Kuta (founder of youth culture magazine, Unlabelled) and Sabelo Mkhabela (OkayAfrica).
The Club Culture in Africa panel will featuring journalist Boni Mnisi (This is What Makes Us Girls), Johannesburg based DJ, Doowap (YFM), Kenny Nzama (DJ Kenzhero) and Theresho Selesho (Matchbox Live CEO).
The finale will host an impressive line-up of local house and gqom artists in a secret location. The show will take place on Thursday, 21 June and will include performances from:

- Moonchild Sanelly
- Da Capo
- Uncle Partytime
- Symatics
