Boiler Room Celebrates Frankie Knuckles with Two Night Chicago Event
Boiler Room celebrates Frankie Knuckles with two night Chicago event. In honour of the legend and in time for the year since his passing, the Boiler Room has decided to put together a two night event that is aimed at celebrating Frankie Knuckles and all that he represented while he was still alive.
The event is set to take place in the same city where Frankie Knuckles started the Warehouse night club. In an ode to his memory and the anniversary of his passing, Boiler Room has announced that it will return to Chicago on the 30th of March 2015.
The two Boiler Room celebrates Frankie Knuckles events will be titled as the ‘Godfather of Chicago House’ and the ‘Home: A Celebration of Chicago.’
It’s a special pop-up event that will happen in a secret location, in accordance of course with the Boiler Room tradition. If you’re in South Africa chances are you will probably be missing this but we will tell you who will be playing there anyway, the event will feature sets by Gene Farris, DJ Hyperactive, The Black Madonna, Jamie 3:26, Mike Dunn and Andrew Emil aka Change Request.
The following night, Boiler Room and the Frankie Knuckles Foundation will be putting together a second event at Smart Bar, featuring Knuckles’ friend and Foundation member Elbert Philips, Chosen Few’s Alan King, Gramaphone Records’ Michael Serafini and the legendary Derrick Carter. Both shows will be broadcast live.
We also told you before about the Frankie Knuckles Chicago House music movie which will be titled ‘The Warehouse’. Production is meant to begin on the 31st of March 2015, the day after the fundraiser event.
The film centers around Frankie Knuckles as an artist and the development of Chicago house music, including the local venue after which this film has been named. ‘The Warehouse’ is also how ‘house’ got its name. The film is intended to focus on and honour the life and work of Frankie as well as the life of the club owner, Robert Williams.
