Black Coffee altercation at iRock – statement issued
After the Black Coffee altercation with rapper AKA’s road manager, Tshiamo Letshwene , AKA’s management company issued a damning press statement saying that the Black Coffee altercation was out of order.
You can read the statement from Vth Season with regards to the Black Coffee altercation with Letshwene here.
You can also watch the phat slap he gave Letshwene at the same link if you haven’t seen it.
Many have come out in blind support of SA’s most popular (and successful) house producer/DJ saying that AKA and his entourage deserved it.
No matter what the circumstances it’s good that he has now broken his silence, albeit via his record label and told his side of the story in the Black Coffee altercation with the road manager.
Formal Statement
29 September 2016
Ibiza, Spain
In light of Saturday night’s events, specifically the incident involving Black Coffee and Mr. Tshiamo Letshwene at the DSTV iRock Music Festival in Polokwane, Soulistic Music has been in touch with both Vth Season and the Festival organisers regarding details surrounding the incident.
1) Soulistic Music and Black Coffee would like to extend sincerest apologies to Mr. Letshwene, DSTV iRock Music Festival, the Soulistic Music community and Black Coffee’s fans worldwide.
2) Black Coffee truly regrets having reacted in the manner that he did. Not only was it a misrepresentation of the person he is and aspires to be, it is inconsistent with:
a) His beliefs of how a person should act and carry himself, publicly or in private, provoked or unprovoked.
b) His teachings to his children and younger generations.
c) The example he would like to set for upcoming artists.
3) In the interest of clarity:
a) Soulistic Music was not informed of any delays or changes in the DSTV iRock Music Festival program.
b) Even when Black Coffee and his road manager arrived at the venue there was no communication from Festival organizers regarding any delays or changes.
c) Mr. Letshwene only informed Black Coffee’s road manager of these changes at the time Black Coffee had to go on stage and even then it was too late as it would have meant Black Coffee’s schedule would be affected for the rest of the night.
d) When Mr. Letshwene failed to convince Black Coffee’s road manager, he then took it upon himself to talk to Black Coffee directly.
e) Black Coffee had no knowledge of who Mr. Letshwene was and therefore directed him back to his road manager, however Mr. Letshwene insisted on talking to Black Coffee directly and regrettably that altercation led to the incident.
f) It is both Vth Season and Soulistic Music’s belief that Mr. Letshwene was not the correct person to discuss any scheduling issues with Black Coffee directly. The Festival organizers should have.
4) Black Coffee’s attempts to reach Mr. Letshwene for a personal apology have been unsuccessful.
In closing, Black Coffee reiterates his sincere apology and deep regret for the incident and in particular his response thereto.
