BjÖrk wants you to by her new album with cryptocurrency
BjÖrk goes the cryptocurrency route, urging fans to buy her new album using this new technology.
BjÖrk has always been on the cutting-edge of fashion, music, and even just in terms of being.
Now she has become one of the first major artist’s to encourage her legion of fans to buy her music in the fashion of cryptocurrencies.
Unlike the rest of industry, the music industry hasn’t adopted this form of finance en masse, yet. This is surprising considering the security and fairness these currencies can offer.
Recently, a new form of cryptocurrency called AudioCoin has emerged, which can hopefully end the battle of royalties and bring forth fair payment to all where due.
Utopia
BjÖrk gives fans an incentive to pre-order her new album, Utopia, through her website using cryptocurrencies by offering a reward of 100 AudioCoins (the monetary equivalent of $0.25) per purchase.
This reward can then be sold or invested in other cryptocurrencies.
Besides sounding bad-ass, the most enticing feature of cryptocurrencies is that it is not backed or controlled by governments and exists outside of centralised banking systems.
Since the launch of Bitcoin in 2009 (8 years ago!!), there has been major interest in this system, and naturally many a cryptocurrency has sprung forth, making people super rich.
The Times reports that Blockpool, the company in charge of organising payment tactics for BjÖrk’s upcoming album, argues that “decentralized music currency rewards fans and artists at the same time.”
Pre-order the new BjÖrk album here – but make sure you pay with cryptocurrency.
