BET glitch prematurely announces Nasty C as winner
A BET glitch has surfaced as their website prematurely announced winners for their upcoming awards ceremony.
A week prior to the BET awards ceremony that are to be held in L.A, their website announced that Nasty C has won the award for the Best International Act: Africa award.
Naturally this news was met with congratulations as well as dismay.
BET has since come out saying it was a glitch and renounced Nasty C as a winner in a statement that read: “An unforeseen technical issue on BET.com’s BET AWARDS show page resulted in several categories revealing randomly selected nominees as winners. We apologize for the confusion to all of the artists affected and to our fans.”
The rapper could not be reached for comment though his label said the star was ‘not fazed’ by the leak.
Nasty C and his award controversies
This is not the first award mishap he has experienced recently.
There was much controversy surrounding his nominations’ for the SAMA23 ‘Best Music Video of the Year’ for which his videos were illegitimately chosen outside of the rules for nomination.
He was also nominated in the category for “Female Artist of the Year”, a clear faux pas on the part of the SAMA’s.
Kwesta released one of the most celebrated songs in 2016 yet was snubbed by the MetroFM awards. Nasty C won the category for his track “Hell Naw.” Once again fans were shocked.
This begs the question, who is paying to get him nominated and winning despite clear discrepancies in awards show rules?
I know we can’t be sore losers, but some of this is ridiculous. These days money can buy you anything, even nominations and wins.
The BET glitch is yet another example of how skew awards shows can be, even on an international level.
