Beatport Beats in School Circus recs winner announced
The first Beatport Beats in School winner has been crowned!
Online port of beats, Beatport, and top label Circus Recordings has revealed the first winner in the Beats
In School producer contest series.With any contest that’s backed by a major label, winning that support can be the boost your career needs to help you ‘get ahead’ in a sense.
In this case the winner gets a year-long mentorship with top house label, Circus Recordings.After narrowing down the 20 stand out finalists, Circus boss Yousef selected the winner.
And the winner is…
The first winner of the Beats In School series is 28-year- old Taya Mills. Hailing from Byron Bay in Australia, Mills is a favourite fixture in his home town with a deep and powerful passion for techno and house.
“I’m looking forward to pooling our resources to help get Taya more exposure,” Yousef says. “He is skilled, makes great tunes and has a really positive energy. I thought he could be a great asset to Circus and a friend to me and all our team.”
It seems as though Mills was destined to win this competition as he was raised in an actual circus by his rave-loving parents.
He started producing as a teen and his current sound is honed by a stint he did in Berlin.Mills is currently bouncing between Byron and the flourishing electronic scene in Bali, as he continues to make waves as a producer and DJ.
“I look up to Yousef and I believe being mentored by him will allow me to reach my full potential,” Taya
Apart from the mentorship, Taya’s prize includes support from Beatport, training from Point Blank Music School, and press and media support. He will also work with specialists from leading brands like Serato, Roland, Pioneer and more.
