BassXchange UK ZA 2016 Winner Cateran Announced by CTEMF and British Council Connect ZA
A Leeds based producer Cateran is announced as the BassXchange UK ZA 2016 2016 winner after a four week search for the artist most deserving of the title.
This is the third edition of the BassXchange UK ZA 2016 competition undertaken by Red Bull, CTEMF and the British Council Connect ZA. The contest kicked off toward the end of December and has now drawn to a close.
The competition was judged by a panel that included Nightmares On Wax, who is a headliner at the upcoming CTEMF.
“Out of all these mixes this mix had a constant groove and took me on journey, which is what you want from a DJ.” said Nightmares On Wax about his selection
The BassXchange UK ZA 2016 project is an invitation to UK-based producers to submit a DJ or Live mix showcasing their own material.
Cateran, real name Stan Vickery has won an all-expenses-paid week-long trip to Cape Town, South Africa where he will be given the opportunity to showcase his music through the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival Programme. He will find himself right in the centre of one of the world’s most eclectic and fast growing electronic music scenes.
“I wasn’t sure how to approach the mix with such an amazing and broad representation at the music festival for a lot of different musical styles, it was hard to begin. So I decided to focus on doing what I enjoy doing the most; mixing deep tech, minimal and some purer forms techno. I seriously can’t wait to be there and I am very appreciative of this opportunity to represent my agency Nightcap and my night in Leeds, Auxiliary – and ultimately give everyone an insight into my perception of underground dance music.” Shared Cateran
The BassXchange UK ZA project aims to be a career boosting opportunity for a bright, up and coming electronic music artist by offering them the unique opportunity to visit South Africa. The UK artist selected gets to showcase their music at CTEMF and network with the South African music industry.
