Ballantine’s Beat of Africa & Black Motion to collaborate in 5 African countries
The Ballantine’s Beat of Africa will feature the talents of local SAMA winning duo, Black Motion.
Ballantine’s whisky continues to promote and align itself with quality music. They are currently on a mission to search out sounds that make Africa and specifically, South Africa unique.
By “collecting, curating, and collaborating, use those everyday sounds, rhythms, and beats to co-create one album: The Ballantine’s Beat of Africa.”
Black Motion will be lending their stylings to the Beat of Africa album and it should be interesting to see what they end up creating with this project.
“The Beat of Africa will be the product of country and continent-wide sharing, collaboration and a common love of African-inspired music.”
Authenticity and staying true is at the heart of the Beat of Africa concept and all that Ballantine’s is involved with musically. They want to tap into the ‘Stay True’ song of African nations. By capturing the day to day sounds and rhythms of people in the country they hope to get to the source of it all.
The album is meant to reflect the sound of a continent that has risen from the streets where people live and walk each day.
You can use the hashtag and share what your idea of the #BeatOfAfrica is.
Ballantine’s Beat of Africa will be a six-month campaign across five countries namely South Africa, Angola, Cameroon, Zambia and Mozambique. Each country will have a local ambassador and Black Motion is ours.
You can also submit your submissions. They would like to get as many rhythm, beats, and sounds as possible. You can let them know what the sound of your home is like. If you submit you stand a chance to win an all-expenses-paid, VIP trip for two to the Beat of Africa album launch party in Johannesburg, later this year.
“When we are in studio, we don’t like to rush things – we take our time. We are not intimidated by the next big thing or act, we stay true to ourselves and we stay true to our music,” says Black Motion of the Beat of Africa album.
