Balfour Mall DJ Smash Competition
The Balfour Mall DJ Smash competition is an opportunity for local unknown DJs to show of their skills and win big. It could also be a chance for them to get their names out and hopefully make a few contacts.
The Balfour Mall DJ Smash contest is giving local talented DJs a chance to get their time to shine. The competition is spaced out over two live events at the mall. Contestants also stand a chance to win prizes worth more than R340, 000.
Aspiring DJs sent their two minute video clips to the Balfour Mall Facebook page including the mall’s DJ booth. The judges selected the top twenty finalists based off their creativity, performance, and presentation.
Mall customers and the general public got to vote for their favourite DJs too. The final five have competed in the semi-finals last Saturday. They were Yaugan Rorke, Phumlani Mzobe, Karabo Mosite, Denzil Tracey, and Dibane Ledwaba.

The final three Yaugan Rorke, Denzil Tracey, and Dibane Ledwaba will compete on the 16th of December for the big win. Surprise celebrity guest DJs will also be playing on the day. The Balfour Mall DJ Smash is as much about uplifting the local community as it is about marketing…
“One of our objectives for 2016 is to plough back to the local community by creating platforms and opportunities that will empower our customers. The general public interest has been phenomenal, and based on the number of entries and response we will certainly be running this competition in the future”, said Meryl Bessesar – Balfour Mall Centre Manager.
“We are beyond thrilled to announce African Bank (Balfour Mall), Alex FM, Kulcha Magazine and Boston City Campus as the competition associate partners and sponsors, a representative from each of the sponsors will also form part of the judging panel for the two events”, said Lebogang Legwale – Balfour Mall Marketing Manager of the Balfour Mall DJ Smash competition.
