Babypod – fetus sound system for your vagina
The Babypod fetus sound system started showing up all over social media a week or so ago and made for an interesting share or ‘look what they came up with now moment’. It comes across as funny, quirky, and innovative.

It’s a wonder who the creators of the Babypod device actually are and just how valid their claim of musical clarity through the vagina is. If the great minds behind the genius of the Babypod have ever been pregnant before they would know that the very last thing anyone wants is to stick things up their vagina unnecessarily. The science that backs up the sound system for the vagina has been carried out by Institut Marquès. The claim is that music helps babies brains develop in the first few months of life (which is why singing to a baby is so popular). However, they have motivated that exposing fetuses to music while in utero will kick start that process.
“Babypod emerged within an important research line carried out by Institut Marquès on the effects of music from the beginning of life. Music has many benefits for the human brain, including acting as a stimulus for learning and it plays an important role in the sphere of social communication. Stimulating babies through music in their first months of life has positive effects on brain development; if this is so, why not give your baby the benefits of music starting before birth?” Babypod
Headphones placed on the tummy works just as well in getting the fetus to hear music. From a comfort perspective this little device, while innovative and some would say provocative, reeks a little too much of gimmickry.
Opinion
Let’s just say it’s hard to imagine a future generation of women all using a vaginal sound system as a go-to in order to help their babies’ brains develop.
This is not a good baby shower gift but just you know it costs $134.23 (R 2,200).
If anything what would really be appreciated is a means that is as least invasive as possible, instead of a clunky looking internal stereo.
