Awesome Soundwave is Carl Cox’s new label for live electronic music
Carl Cox presents Awesome Soundwave.
Sound waves are indeed awesome, which is something legendary house producer Carl Cox aims to harness through his new label, Awesome Soundwave or ASW for short.
He has teamed up with Christopher Coe (both rocking the alliterative names) to bring forth a label that focuses on live electronic music.
By this they mean artists who create the sounds to their tracks, well, live in front of the crowd they’re playing to.
“The idea is to bring together a whole plethora of amazing producers and would-be live acts in the realms of electronic music and bring them to the forefront of where we are to take the music into the future,” Carl Cox told Mixmag.
A most Awesome Soundwave indeed!
He goes on to say:
“My idea was to create a label where artists who actually can make their music live, and perform their music live, have a stable where they can be themselves, be able to create the music without any boundaries and to feel free in the sense of releasing music without prejudice in any way, shape or form.”
The first release from the label will be a Christopher Coe aka Digital Primate EP titled MNTNS of SLNC, named after the rolling misty mountains of the artists’ home in County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland.
The track list keeps with the theme with names including They Walk, The Mountains, Mountain Burial, Cliff Face and Mountain of Grooves (Cheeky) to name a few.
The 8-track EP is due for release in May but you can stream the first single, Headland here.
