Avicii True Stories to air on Netflix December 28
Avicii True Stories will give you clear insight into the mind of one of music’s brightest yet fallen stars.
The death of Avicii shook the electronic music industry. He made a huge impact in millions of people’s lives and greatly contributed to the music industry with his unique blend of electronic and instrumental tracks that will forever be anthems.
It’s hard to understand why people do what they do, but sometimes there’s documentation, in this case an actual documentary, that sheds light onto the darkness looming in a brilliant mind.
Avicii: True Stories is a documentary shot over a period of 4 years that takes a look at Tim Bergling’s journey in dealing with crippling anxiety, crushing amounts of pressure, severe exhaustion, stress and the inevitable illness he underwent as a result of life on the road, ending a mere 6 months before his tragic death in April 2018.
True Stories
True Stories was directed by Levan Tsikurishvili, who met Tim in Stockholm two years before the inception of the documentary.
Levan initially released the documentary in October 2017, which is why some of you may be thinking that this whole thing sounds familiar.
True Stories was broadcast by DSTV in May 2018, shortly after Avicii’s death. Even if you aren’t particularly a fan of his music, he is still a person and it’s still heart-breaking.
Throughout the documentary you hear him say over and over how he wants to take a break and quit (which he eventually did do), how he is tired and doesn’t want to go on but due to pressure has to go on and be Avicii.
Avicii’s then manager Ash Pournouri is even heard saying:
“Tim is going to die,” he says. “With all the interviews, radio tours and playing. He’ll drop dead.”
A chilling sentiment given the events that followed.
Avicii True Stories will be released on Netflix on December 28, watch the trailer.
