Audioboyz presents Skywalker, their new EP available on SoundCloud
The Gqom force is on their side as the Audioboyz presents Skywalker, their new EP.
Gqom is the South African flavour that is taking over the world. The broken beats, chopped up vocals and pulsating synths make this sound irresistible, which is why the Audioboyz had to get involved.
Years ago in the galaxy of Newlands West, Durban, Audioboyz got their groove and started producing music.
Now, they present he world with Skywalker, their new EP oozing with Gqom and recorded at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town. It is now available on SoundCloud.
The group is comprised of four DJ’s- Nkululeko Dlamini (DJ Motion), Sihle Zondi – (DJ Fatonic), Njabulo Myeza – (DJ Nje) and Percival Mathews – (Percy)- who met in their home town of Newlands West in Durban and bonded over their shared love of house music and then taught each other how to DJ and produce. They have been inseparable since.

“What inspired us to make Gqom music is the unique sound that the genre possesses: The bass, kick, hi-hats, to rhythmic elements fused together to make something magical, but most importantly, that the sound originates from Durban where we grew up.” says DJ Motion.
Percy adds, “There are no rules to making a Gqom song and that’s what drew us in deep: that you can fuse it with any other genre and subsequently get something good that will make the masses go crazy.”
The new EP follows on to their September release of The Rise of Gqom, a body of work representing their contribution to the genre.
There are three tracks in the Skywalker EP- Burning Groove, Skywalker and Let Them Dance.
