Apple Pay tests “order ahead” feature for buying drinks at festivals
Skip the drinks queue with Apple Pay.
What a time to be alive! Imagine you’re on the dance floor, it’s crowded, the music is pumping but you need to refill your drink. You remember how the last drinks mission you embarked on took a literal hour, you have a little cry because your favourite band is next and you fret missing some of their set.
Well fret no more, dear festivalgoer! The future looks bright with the payment system from Apple where you will be able to order ahead. You can literally order the drinks on your device, from any concession stand you’d like, go fetch it and pay without missing many beats.
Recently Apple tested the ‘order ahead’ feature at the BottleRock Festival in California, and it yielded positive results.
Skip nothing but queues
The service works in conjunction with the festival’s mobile app, and users will need an Apple device that supports its ‘Pay’ system. Once you order, Apple sends a message with your order number to the concession stand of your choice, so they can prepare your drinks.
A map will appear on your phone, leading you to your drinks destination, which will conveniently have a pick-up lane for Apple’s ‘order ahead’ customers.
To pay you scan your fingerprint or face, so no need for wallets full of cash and cards.
In South Africa we have the services like Howler, though you still have to load the card with money and you don’t skip the queues. It would be awesome if South Africa could also get services like Apple’s Pay system- I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.
Apple Pay will surely improve sales of Apple products, people hate queues that much.
