Apple iPhone 7 Rumours are to ditch headphone jack
Apple iPhone 7 rumours are to ditch headphone jack for wireless earphones. The 3.5mm jack is rumoured to be on its way out for Apple iPhone users.
According to a 9to5Mac report, Chinese supply chain stores have confirmed that the 3.5mm headphone jack will not be included in the next Apple iPhone. Instead, Apple will be creating a wireless version of the EarPod headphones.
Earlier Apple iPhone 7 rumours revealed that Apple would switch from the 3.5mm jack to using its proprietary Lightning technology to connect headphones to the iPhone 7. According to the Chinese site Feng, the Lightning headphones will be an alternative if users want a wired option. However Apple is expecting most of its iPhone users to make the switch over to a wireless ear phone connection.
The latest Apple iPhone 7 rumours supports the idea that the Apple company is making a push for the use of wireless technology in the future. But, Apple also seems intent on making the Lightning technology a standard use for audio connectivity.
“The Lightning headphones will be capable of receiving lossless stereo 48 kHz digital audio output from Apple devices and sending mono 48 kHz digital audio input. The input means that the headphones will also support a microphone for audio input following Apple’s upcoming update. Manufacturers will be able to take advantage of Apple Headphone Remote controls like Volume Up/Down/etc, as well as other buttons for launching specific apps such as iTunes Radio or initiating playback controls on iOS. In addition, the headphones can be made to work specifically with a companion iOS app and launch a specific app when connected to an iOS device.” According to MacRumours.com
Back in 2014, Apple introduced specifications which allowed third-party manufacturers to produce headphones that make use of the technology. The Philips brand has since created two different headphone models that uses a Lightning connector.
