Aphex Twin Collapse EP out soon, we hope…
Aphex Twin Collapse is the much-anticipated new EP from the electronic music stalwart.
After a week-long appearance of Aphex logos sprouting out in London, Turin, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles, Warp Records has announced the dawn of a new Aphex EP, titled Collapse.
The press release came in the form of the same 3D style emulated by the logo, but gives no further details besides the title; the rest is a warped blur; classic!
According to Resident Advisor, the first audio from the EP seemed likely to air during Adult Swim on Monday, August 6 (last night); however it did not.
The video that was to be aired was pulled because it failed the Harding test for photosensitive epilepsy safety.
Adult Swim’s Creative Director of On-Air Jason DeMarco did confirm that they “will be premiering it online.”
Been a long time coming!
The mysterious and slightly eerie nature of Richard D James has fascinated fans for decades and developed into a cult-like following.
Aphex Twin Collapse will be James’ first release since his 2016 LP Cheetah.
Last year he shared his ENTIRE discography on a streaming site, including unreleased gems from throughout his expansive career.
Most recently, there was a BBC documentary based on his mysterious life and career, setting out to bust certain myths around James.
Questions explored were:
“Does he drive a tank around Cornwall?” or “Did he once live in a bank vault in the middle of the Elephant And Castle roundabout?” They also want to know if he has a submarine, “Does he really write songs while asleep after training himself in the practice of lucid dreaming?” and if his DJ tech rider has a food processor and sheets of sandpaper on it.
All this has really elevated hype around Aphex Twin Collapse, whose new EP is upon us, or is it?
