Amsterdam DJ mistaken for drug-dealer shot dead
The family of Amsterdam DJ Djordy Latumahina may soon have justice as a suspect has been arrested.
A suspect has been arrested following suspicion that he was involved in the fatal shooting of the Amsterdam DJ who police believe was the victim of mistaken identity.
As Dutch news reports Djordy sustained fatal injuries last October when he was shot after parking his Mini in the basement of his apartment block located in the capital’s Nieuw West district.
Police believe that the intended target was a drug dealer who owned a similar car and lived in the same apartment block, and has since been in hiding abroad.
Mistaken Identity of the dying degree
In this case a TV crime show called Opsporing Versocht helped the arrest be possible as they showed pictures of the suspects.
One of them, Djurgen W, was already arrested in June, but his accomplice was still at large. The accomplice is described as a tall blond man from Amsterdam- a needle in a hay stack.
Djordy wasn’t alone when the shooting occurred. His 2-year-old daughter narrowly avoided being shot and his girlfriend survived despite being seriously injured.
In total 6 people have been arrested in connection with the murder:
– 2 car thieves who are suspected of arranging to steal the getaway vehicle which was later found burned out near the scene.
– A third suspect is accused of being the driver.
– Djurgen W. and the latest suspect.
– The final suspect is believed to have masterminded the operation with the help of his brother.
The suspects are to appear in court for a procedural hearing on Tuesday, with the full trial taking place in March 2018.
All we can hope for is some justice for Amsterdam DJ Djordy Latumahina and his family.
