What ison an AKA Rider for a show
We found this AKA rider on MSN Entertainment. They took it from an interview with DJ Sabby which you can watch below if you feel the urge.
The popular rapper is without doubt one of SA’s recent musical success stories and aside from his massive popularity in South Africa, he’s a regular performer throughout Africa and has also done stints overseas, including most recently a promo radio tour to the UK, as well as winning two Afrimma Awards in Dallas, Texas which he combined with a promo tour there too.
So it’s a reasonable assumption that an AKA rider would have 1 or 2 things on it that remind one that he’s one of the country’s top music stars right now, although the list is surprisingly low key.
The AKA rider, which is essentially just his hospitality requirements, was revealed during the DJ Sabby interview…
So for promoters out there, if you’re keen to book AKA, best you budget for a few extras…
- Business class flights only for AKA
- Mango Airlines and Kulula are a no-go. SAA only – which is kind of understandable since the other two are budget airlines and don’t have a business class section. Duh!
- When you collect AKA from the airport don’t bother unless you’ve sent an SUV or an H1 (9-seater bus).
- Before you book him into a hotel, best you check with his team. The rapper or his staff usually handle this and choose where they want to stay.
- Rappers need bouncers and AKA is no exception. 3 or 4 are the minimum requirement, thank you very much.
- Refreshments backstage are important but the AKA rider is pretty low-key when it comes to his requirements; Red Bull, water, ginger tea and towels is all he asks for.
What do you think of the AKA rider? We think it’s pretty reasonable.
