Airbnb adds behind the scenes Music Experiences to their packages
Airbnb is offering Music Experiences that go behind the scenes.
This is taking place in cities all around the world. You could check out the local music scene of the city you find yourself in or even shoot a music video on location.
And Cape Town is included!
Other than simply offering you a place to rest while you are on holiday, Airbnb is now offering an original Music Experience as part of your trip. They are collaborating with Sofar Sounds on this project.
Sofar Sounds are a team of promoters that are putting together these specialised packages.
They arrange secret gigs, offer travellers special behind the scenes access tours, and original experiences with musicians, local music scene experts, and other industry professionals. It’s a touristic educational holiday that may be a little more thrilling and entertaining than the usual sightseeing and lounging by the pool holiday habits.
Music & Tourism
This new idea by Airbnb is thoroughly genius though because it creates opportunities for music tourism on a larger scale. For instance, the first thing I’m thinking of is getting someone to show me around New Orleans and hit up the best spots for live, local jazz and gumbo. I’ve always wanted to go to New Orleans to experience the city in this way, but I have wondered how I would have to go about it. The Music Experiences by Airbnb might just be the solution.
They already have one hundred experiences available and you could opt to hang out with Kid Rock’s guitarist, learn how to make a violin in Paris, go backstage at a concert in LA, go vinyl shopping in Tokyo, or learn how to play the djembe drum in Cape Town.
Once you’ve learnt to play the djembe please don’t take it with you to every party you go to. J
You could even get a “Grime scout” to show you around the underground scene in London.
