Aiaiai’s AbEXP will allow you to transform web banners into music
Aiaiai’s AbEXP is a new plugin focussed on turning annoying ad banners into music.
Danish headphone brand aiaiai has collaborated with (also Danish) electronic duo deluxe Kenton Slash Demon to develop and launch a new “interactive music universe” that will spice up your web banners in a musical way.
Introducing AbEXP, an experimental and exploratory project that acts as a new kind of plugin available through the Chrome extension that allows you to transform ad banners into an audiovisual experience with music created by Kenton Slash Demon paired with futuristic, brutalism-inspired graphics.
AbEXP was developed in partnership with creative coder Andreas Refsgaard (Copenhagen-based), followed by an invitation extended towards Kenton Slash Demon who then created the music and sound spectrum for the project, resulting in a ‘modular’ system of sounds that can be interacted with.
Turn ads into sweet music
To use it simply install it in your Chrome browser as an extension.
The next time an ad pops up, AbEXP will automatically turn it into a minimal greyscale image that you can mouse over and play music from and manipulate it with FX.
“The AbEXP is intended as a playful, exploratory comment; If people don’t want banners, let’s give them something else, something fun,” explains aiaiai Creative Director Peter Michael Willer via a press release.
It’s a fun way to do something productive and bypass the myriad ads bombarding us at any given moment.
