AI generated 231 DJ names using Hard Wax record store’s website
AI generates 231 DJ names and it’s amusingly believable.
Making music and DJing may be the biggest part of the creative process but coming up with your alias is the packaging.
We’ve all been there, making music or not, answering the big question: What would your stage name be?
Well, Berlin-based Swede Olle Holmberg, producer and photographer, took it a few steps further and trained an AI to generate DJ names using all the names found on Hard Wax record store’s website.
As you know, AI doesn’t do anything half-ass, so the experiment resulted in a list of 231 DJ names that are amusingly believable.
A few of the names generated includes Stan Pacropios Secter, Sharks of Tarrys, Jumonnc, Roskertman, Pruc Andrey Williama & Sessel Dao Les, Rogardo Mackor Ros Williem, Ros OcRo & Rub Manceke, Dovinik, Dov Of Ank & Plabesio Risoul Kmag, Royeni and more. (about 200 more)
Survival guide
In an interview with Electronic Beats, Holmberg gave some insight as to why he did this experiment, saying:
“What I mean, is that by doing data scraping/analysis and AI type hobby projects like the Berghain Sets data, the Hardwax Common Words data and now this, I’m gradually equipping myself skill-wise for near-term survival. That the subject of the homework is electronic dance music is merely incidental to my own proximity to it.”
