Afro pop star Vusi Nova in court over fraud of R1m
Vusi Nova isn’t shining too bright at the moment!
Last week Vusimuzi “Vusi Nova” Nongxa appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court following allegations of fraud and money laundering of a total close to R1m when he and his co-accused allegedly defrauded an elderly Joburg couple.
Allegedly Nova and his co-accused, Jonathan Searle, swindled the late Leon Kruger and his wife Catharina Johanna Kruger between 2011 and 2014 in an elaborate scheme involving Nova’s company Safrasa Investments.
In November 2011 Searle proposed a deal to the Kruger’s which included jobs at Safrasa with promise that they would receive monthly salaries of R165 000 and R85 000 respectively, medical aid, transport and phone expenses. Sounds great!
All they needed to do was pay shares valued at R42m, R41m of which would be generously subsidised by Safrasa; meaning the Krugers needed to pay up R1m.
Too good to be true!
Shockingly the Krugers never received their fat salaries or their suave benefits and sadly Leon Kruger passed away in June 2015.
The court appearances resulted in new developments:
-Jonathan Searle is actually Aeghatidis Andreas Socrate, according to the Department of Home Affairs.
-Nova is out on bail, claiming that he knew nothing about these fraudulent acts and is in fact also a victim of Jonathan Searle.
“I was asked to come to court and I went court, I had nothing to hide so I went to court. My company was used, this person that I trusted in my life used my company ID for fraud, and how I’m involved in that, the company is mine, so that’s what we’re tryna fight right now…for me, this is embarrassing…this guy literally forged my signature and we can categorically prove that, because we got someone to analyse it, you can just tell that that is not my signature…” he told ZAlebs.
Stay tuned for more developments in the burning out, or continual shining of Vusi Nova.
