Celebrate 808 Day with Puma and Roland as they launch their retro sneaker pack
Kick off 808 Day in style!
Puma and Roland have teamed up to create an amalgamation of apparel and production gear, fusing the worlds of style and practicality.
The TR-808 drum machine is a hardware legend, and what better way to pay tribute to its influence on underground culture than to manufacture sneakers in its likeness?
I mean, the 808 is so iconic that it has a whole day dedicated to its influence, which so happens to be the 8th of August- this Wednesday.
This brings me to announce the launch event of the Puma x Roland retro sneaker pack, which includes the RS-100 and RS-0 sneakers.
The event will be held at the Puma Select Courtyard in Braamfontein where punters can get a live sneak peak of the sneaks and enjoy a live demo of music technology from the Roland 808 and 303 from Kosta of Crazy White Boy.
There will also be beer, 808-themed food, arcade machines and 808 –inspired tunes.
All about the 808
The range of sneakers has been noted as “a story of reinvention” that is inspired by the past, shaped by the colourful histories of both brands and reimagined for the future,” this collaboration is sure to have gearheads and sneakerheads run with their money.
Where the RS-0’s have a black colour scheme with accents taken from the 808, the RS-100’s have a more colourful design that sticks to the traditional look of the Puma sneaker.
Doors open at 18:00, all welcome but capacity is limited. The PUMA SELECT courtyard is on the corner of De Korte and Melle streets, Braamfontein. For more information on upcoming events, visit Puma’s website and follow @PUMASouthAfrica on Twitter and Instagram.
