What is Wanderlust?
The word Wanderlust evokes all kind of emotion and thoughts.
… quality music with no limitations.”
The direct definition is that Wanderlust ‘is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.’
Sounds about right if you’re ready to embark on a musical journey too!
Wanderlust is also a brand new electronic music event that was recently announced.
Although a little mysterious in their promotional copy, the little bit they do say on the event page caught my attention
Love over logic – we’ve all been there.
But is this a love for music, a love for partying, a love of your life or is it the promoter simply saying;
‘We’re doing this for the love!’
The latter would be awesome.
Quality over quantity is the other one that I like.
With a festival calendar that is fast becoming congested you’re going to have to pick your parties carefully. Any event that subscribes to the quality over quantity paradigm gets my vote.
It’s also an over 21 event which suggests they’re targeting a more mature party animal.
Not limited by genre
Wanderlust is described as a ‘premium electronic musical journey not limited by genre.’
A quick look at the lineup confirms both.
Headliners D-Nox and Symphonix are musically worlds apart, although they’ve very possibly found themselves on the same lineup at many European festivals.
Both are stalwarts in their field of relatively underground dance music;
D-Nox is the king of underground tech-house and techno and is consistently featured on all the top European festival line-ups. He has performed here several times, always to packed out dancefloors.
Progressive trance is a genre that is equally compatible at a psytrance event as it is at a techno/house party. The ‘prog’ as it is fondly referred to, is to be delivered by German heavyweights Symphonix. They will no doubt add some welcome analog clout to the Wanderlust musical mix.
The local DJs named so far are also all strong fixtures on the local outdoor tech scene. Needless to say they’ve hired the pros for the job.
The mixing up of genres though is the key to Wanderlust.
It subscribes to what the current electronic dance music generation wants from an event; quality music with no limitations.
