Nano Records’ NEW Online Radio Show | Diary of a DJane
Today I’m going to talk about Nano Records and what they are getting up to lately. Regan Tacon is behind most of the moving and grooving that has been SA’s leading trance label over this past decade. Starting from his humble little UCT radio show and writing about rave culture in a few publications and Student Life, Regan, like several others who helped develop psy in Cape Town, South Africa, has always been at the forefront of the scene. My earliest memory of Regan was on a bus to Zambia; he was with his wife Monique, and off we all trekked to the Solipse Festival in Zambia, for a 10 day festival and to view the eclipse… all of us on that bus worked at the festival. It was like a Cape Town Crew Bus (for 4 days on the road).
I guess Earth Dance and his record label are Regan’s most famous work as well as the Origin Festival which came a bit later. I feel that Nano records have most definitely played a key role in the growth of our scene and have put producers like Headroom and The Commercial Hippies on the global map.
But what is the next thing to do?
They already release some of the sickest music every month; if Regan isn’t here in Cape Town preparing a big event, he is often overseas representing us on a massive stage or working a some of the biggest European psytrance events.
I caught up with him to chat about Nano Records’ newest venture – their online streaming radio show hosted on DI.FM.
They are streaming LIVE every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, (at 2pm US Eastern, 7pm UK, 20:00 Central Europe).
Regan tells me it’s still a very new project and it has great room to grow from podcasts into full shows and they will be bringing in guests as well as promoting their busy artists’ latest singles and album releases.
After every show the mix gets uploaded to the Nano Soundcloud page for you to listen to any time so don’t fret if you miss the initial broadcast.
DIFM is one of many online radio stations and it has a massive reach with many different channels with different genres. Even just for Psytrance there are multiple channels to choose from, so there is endless musical enjoyment. You should check it out.
In other Nano Records news, SkyFall – ‘Fantasy is Part of Reality’ is the latest album release to come from the label; keep your eyes open for this one, as SkyFall is Daniel- Menog’s progressive act. You can find it on Beatport or Psyshop.
