Music Streaming Events this weekend
Online Music Streaming Events have not slowed down much since the global Covid-19 lockdown.
In fact, every week more seem to be popping up.
This weekend is a perfect example of how music streaming events continue to be the only solution for event brands to keep their flags flying, for artists to continue some form of performing and for fans to still get their fix of new music.
What we have learnt so far is that no matter how big or small an artist is, whether they are playing an instrument or simply DJing other people’s music or, in some cases, simply providing their music as a soundtrack to visuals, it’s a tough sell compared to the real thing.
Zoom chat rooms do offer some semblance of social connectivity.
But the technology still seems to be a long way off from delivering something of real value that fans will pay real cash for.
Thus far most music streaming events have offered a ‘pay what you can’ approach or backed a cause which then invites viewers to donate.
Tomorrowland plan to do a ‘fully immersive’ online festival and are not shy with their ticket prices.
Their offering promises a lot so we are waiting with bated breath to see how that turns out.
This weekend, however, you are spoilt for choice with some huge local and global events taking place.
The one big advantage of these music streaming events is that you are not restricted by territory.
So, you can choose one that is being hosted anywhere in the world.
Here are out top picks for this weekend.

What has us excited is that the amazing Glade stage (electronica across the genres) will also be part of the live stream with an almighty lineup that includes a special tribute to Andrew Weatherall today.

Awakenings Festival 2020 | online weekender
Awakenings Festival is an electronic music festival held in Spaarnwoude Houtrak, just outside of Amsterdam.

Global Goal: Unite For Our Future Concert is hosted by Global Citizen.
The Global Citizen Festival is an annual music festival started in 2012 and organized by Global Poverty Project to raise funds.

Half Wild Synthesis Live: 72 Hour Digital Festival
Half Wild Synthesis Live: 72 Hour Digital Festival is being hosted down under in Australia and their lineup resembles a typical Ozzy bush doof.
The music is a mixture of progressive trance, psytrance and techno with some quirky beats thrown in for good measure.
Just the way the Ozzies like it.
Nano Records is well represented this weekend, as well as IbogaTech (Iboga Records Techno imprint) alongside a bevy of other top global DJ/Producers.

Music4Masks has tough competition from Global Citizen this weekend with a music format that also covers conventional pop/rock music. i.e. not electronic or DJing.

The eclectic lineup that ranges from artists such as Toya De Lazy to Francois Van Coke and many other styles in between.
