Miles From Mars fresh from the Cape Town underground [listen]
Miles From Mars is the production duo of Maximilian and Deadbeat FM.

Both are well known DJ/Producers in the Cape Town underground scene.
Maximilian Kibble also hosts some of the coolest boutique-style events with two prominent brands, Into The Wild Experience and With You Festival.
Deadbeat FM is the techno moniker of Shane Renew, perhaps better known for his psytrance alias, Deliriant.
Their debut EP release, ‘Red Eye Jedi,’ is out now on Digital Structures, an imprint owned by the the legendary Yuli Fershtat aka Perfect Stranger.
Needless to say they are stoked with their first EP release as they’ve not only announced themselves on a great label, Yuli also remixed ‘Free Your Mind’ from the EP too.
Max, who came up with the name Miles From Mars, had this to say…
“It’s a big honour to have such a figurehead in the scene like Yuli Fershtat remix our track.
“After listening to the EP he was pretty excited about our sound we were cooking up and he decided to remix the “tranciest” track on our EP ‘Free Your Mind'”.
“He turned it into a psychedelic techno bomb. We couldn’t be happier with it.”
Miles From Mars – Red Eye Jedi
Their debut release ‘Red Eye Jedi’ signifies a contemporary approach to the hybrid of techno and progressive trance, and their sound embodies a distinctly dark undertone while retaining a solid driving bass.
The thunderous bass lines matched with well-crafted sound design create a creaky, tweaky type of eeriness, perfect for unleashing that inner dancefloor monster in any techno fan.
‘Red Eye Jedi’ was mastered by Ido Ophir from Domestic Mastering Studios, a massively respected engineer.
“The aim is always to get the tracks sounding as ready as possible before we send it over to mastering.
Ido mastered our last release off Digital Structures ‘Civilisations’ as well. He does a great job with the mastering,” says Max.
On the toughest track to complete Shane says, “Free Your Mind was the hardest to finish.
“It’s the tranciest track on the EP so we went back and forth between sounds and melodies quite a bit, until we found a middle ground that we were both happy with.”
He adds, “The Perfect Stranger remix was a great surprise. I had no idea what to expect from this one, but really love what Yuli did with it.”
