Numark PT01 Scratch Portable Turntable announced
Numark have just announced the PT01 Scratch Portable Turntable and it replaces the earlier PT01 model with the obvious addition of the scratch feature, hence the name.
Vinyl sales are reportedly at an all time high globally so it’s no surprise that Numark have upped their game by introducing a novel updated version of their portable turntable in the form of the PT01 Scratch. As a DJ tech company Numark are often ahead of the pack when it comes to consumer level DJ gear and the PT01 Scratch is no different.
First off the PT01 Scratch is not a professional piece of DJ gear. I’m sure you can tell from looking at the images. But what it is, is a very nifty portable record player which is actually all the rage right now. So if you’re in the market for a portable player to spin your vinyl anywhere, anytime, you could do a lot worse than buy a PT01 Scratch.
You see the turntable actually has some really cool features and trumps, in our opinion, retro cool players like the Crosley which you can buy at shops like Musica in South Africa.
For starters it has USB so you can rip your vinyl to your computer. You may say this defeats the point of owning the vinyl but a backup is always handy and what about those times when you want to listen digitally?
It also has a pitch adjusting knob so you can actually speed up and slow down the record as well as setting s for 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM settings.
There are RCA line outs, dual headphone jack ports and even a stereo input plus a built-in speaker.
But the novel extra feature is the Scratch Switch which looks like a crossfader but is actually more like a scratch effects switch for added interactive fun. The PT01 Scratch runs on batteries and comes with a complete carry case for easy transport.
