NI adds Komplete Kontrol S 88 plus third party integration
The Komplete Kontrol S Series has been updated with two key new developments.
The first of these is a new Komplete Kontrol S 88 – an 88 key fully weighted keyboard controller with hammer action keys. This is aimed squarely at composers and pianists looking to get the massive benefits from the huge Komplete library of instruments and samples but also the tactile benefit of a proper piano style keyboard surface.
The second development is highly significant for both existing users and anybody who has had their eye on a Komplete Kontrol S controller.
Native Instruments have introduced a new feature called Native Kontrol Standard™ which effectively opens up the Kontrol S keyboard controller to be used with the same deep integration on third party plugins.
Komplete Kontrol S 88
The Komplete Kontrol S 88 is the latest addition to the range of Kontrol S keyboard controllers and, as mentioned before, it sports a professional 88-key, hammer action keybed and authentic aftertouch. All the same set of controls and advanced features found on the other Kontrol S controllers are present too such as Smart Play (a set of melodic features controlling chords) and Light Guide, the coloured LEDs that indicate things such as sound types or key switches etc.
Native Kontrol Standard™
Native Kontrol Standard™ is a new extended plug-in format available in Version 1.5 of Komplete Kontrol and what this does is allows third-party instruments to be controlled with the same level of native control previously only reserved for Komplete Instruments. VST support now let’s Komplete Kontrol S owners load and play their entire software instrument collection.
Native Kontrol Standard™ basically gives VST developers a standard protocol to use for creating seamless integration with their plugins and the Kontrol S keyboards as well as with the NI Maschine.
So far the following plugins have all agreed to partner with the Native Kontrol Standard™ format;
- Output Audio
- XILS Lab
- Evolution Series
The Komplete Kontrol 1.5 software update and Komplete Kontrol S 88 will be available on October 27, 2015.
The first Native Kontrol Standard™ instruments will be available when KOMPLETE KONTROL 1.5 is released.
