Trace TV launching three African music channels
Trace TV will be launching three African music channels on the 1st of September. The three Trace channels are Trace Africa, Trace Mziki, and Trace Naija. You will be able to access the channels in Southern Africa, West Africa and East Africa. The channels will be carried out on the MultiChoice DStv platform. The content for each channel will be specifically curated for that channel’s region.
For instance, South Africans will be catered a combination of kwaito, afro-pop, house, rumba, ndombolo, and coupé-décalé.
If you are in East Africa then Trace Mziki will be all yours. It will be a channel in both English and Swahili. Here you will experience the tastes of Tanzanian and Ugandan genres such as bongo flava. While West African countries will be enjoying afro pop, hip life, and afro beats.
It is exciting the Trace TV is extending to include other regions in Africa and will showcase the vast and rich landscape of brilliant African music. This offers more African musicians an opportunity to put their quality sounds on a platform for all to share in. It also adds to the now ever growing infrastructure of the African music industry, by making visible those talented artists who would have otherwise been easily missed.
Trace TV specifically decided on these three regions since they are the biggest music hubs on the continent…
“Trace TV is already the leading music brand in Africa. These 3 new localized music channels will help promote more artists from the 3 biggest music hubs of Africa and they will better serve the strong need of the local audiences for great local content,” said chief executive officer of Trace TV, Olivier Laouchez.
Passionate about Africa as always, Trace TV is also involved in discovering musical talent. With the Airtel Trace Music Star competition, they have uncovered and also developed talent across the continent.
