Music In Africa Foundation brings together Nigerian Afrobeat and SA house music
On 3 November 2017, a partnership between the Music In Africa Foundation and Goethe-Institut will bring together Nigerian Afrobeat and SA House.
Siemans Stiftung and Keleketla Library will hold a public lecture and a performance on two of the most celebrated and loved genres on the African continent- Nigerian Afrobeat and SA House.
The event is to be held at King Kong in Johannesburg and the momentous occasion will feature legendary Nigerian Afrobeat musician Dele Sosimi and on the SA house side who better than multi-award winning duo Black Motion.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Dele Sosimi is undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s finest musicians and by far the best representative for Nigerian Afrobeats at this ‘conference.’
His teachings on the genre have been well-received on an international scale, with special mention to London, where he is a visiting lecturer at the London Metropolitan University.
In 2010, the stage called him as he was appointed Afrobeat music consultant for the London production of Fela!
Black Motion is the musical potion that has swept the nation. (I so badly want to say ‘notion’)
With their percussion driven electronic music and spirited live performances, Black Motion is the perfect act to represent SA House music.
“This event aims to provide a platform for Africans to learn and embrace African music styles as well as to promote exchanges between musicians from all over the continent,” Music In Africa Foundation director Eddie Hatitye said.
This is a FREE event, though seats are limited.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by 25 October 2017.
