Instagram @MUSIC has been launched
Instagram to launch @MUSIC. The popular photo sharing app has decided to branch a little further and fill a gap with their social media platform that they have previously not paid attention to.
Kevin Systrom, the CEO and founder of Instagram, decided to implement music within the platform. Instagram @MUSIC is a special new feature, it is the first handle on Instagram ever that is dedicated to highlighting a specific brand of content.
“The music community is – and always has been – an important part of Instagram.” Says Kevin
Instagram is not short of musical creatives who use the app to communicate with their fans and followers by keeping them up to date with latest releases, tours, and projects, mixed in with tid bits of their personal lives thrown in for good measure.
The new Instagram @MUSIC feature will consist of eleven series and six posts per week from Tuesday to Sunday which is going to introduce those who use the app to new upcoming and aspiring artists. The genres and styles of these artists will be varied and more than likely, possibly eclectic.
They aim to turn it into a taste plate with a little something here and there for everyone. I’m curious personally and look forward to seeing what this featured handle shapes up to be.
“Unlike Facebook, there’s not a field of structured data for people to identify as musicians. We just rolled out verification at beginning of the year, so we’re still getting to know the verified folks and developing a much more robust list of verified music accounts. We don’t have the number yet, but we can see how important music is when we just look at the top accounts – we know who they are, even if their name is @champagnepapi.” says Jonathan Hull, head of strategic partnerships/music for Facebook and Instagram.
